I am completely Happy about buying this Tide Fragrance Free from Amazon.com. The FREE shipping was a Plus and I used a gift card to purchase my products. The shipping was very fast, I had my Tide within 3 days after hitting the complete order on-line. My local stores carry Tide but not The Fragrance FREE Dermatology tested HE Tide. I found out people USE way to much Liquid soap in their NEW HE Front loading Washing Machines. Their clothes smelled like liquid soap after the clothes were dryed. The new machines use very little water and it is hard to get used to the fact of how much litle HE (High Energy Efficent) laundry Detergent is needed. USE the Manufactures measurements, increasing the amount will not help your clothes get any cleaner. Wasting soap and your clothes will not rinse properly maybe leaving your clothes with a slight smell and funny feel. I thought this would be a good idea to cut down on the clothes packed for our 10 day trip to Italy. I think the sheets work fine for washing, it’s more the entire process that is not good. First of all, you are supposed to remove the sheets with “dry hands”, which is difficult unless you remember to remove them before putting the clothing in the sink or turning on the water. If your hands are the least bit damp you will mess up the paper-thin sheets in pack.

As for the washing ability of the sheets, I think it does fine with one to two sheets for an article of clothing (tshirt or two pairs of socks). It does not produce suds, but the clothes smell clean afterward (even socks).

Also, I bought the Rick Steves clothesline to dry the items. Well, it takes several days for the clothes to dry. Unless someone has a faster way to dry the clothes, then this isn’t a really feasible way to travel.

I bought this for a recent 18-day trip abroad with 2 other people. We each took just one carry-on suitcase and washed clothes along the way. We ended up throwing the soap sheets away and using shampoo as a detergent. The soap sheets make no suds, and it took at least 4 sheets per sink load to get a visible amount of soap.

Quite surprised at the extremely small size. They are only slightly larger than the breath freshener strips. Good for single items washed out in the bathroom sink. The whole package would be required if using an actual washing machine. Given that, rather expensive for what you get.

After trying the Seventh Generation detergent, I was a bit skeptical that a “natural” detergent would actually work. The Seventh Generation never completely dissolved and left soap all over my dishes. I am sooo glad I tried Citradish. I haven’t noticed any difference between using this one versus Cascade, which I’ve been using my entire life. It does just as good of a job, if not better than the regular brands. Actually, this one is better because of healthier ingredients - I know my kids aren’t eating chemical residues from the regular brand.

If you are unsure about whether to buy this detergent, my advice would be to find other people that are willing to try it too, and split the 12 boxes up. It has free shipping, so the cost is only $4.75/box - not too bad! Give this one a try!

The first few washes appeared normal, but once I got about halfway through the box, white residue began appearing on the plates, and food was not being removed from any of the bowls. I was really hoping this product would live up to it’s strong reviews, but we have been quite disappointed. We have a good dishwasher (<1 yr old Bosch) which was working great w/ Ecover dishwasher tabs (apparently no longer sold directly by Amazon). Then we tried Citradish, but after 1 month of use we are giving up and giving away all the extra detergent left. It consistently does a poor job cleaning, leaves etching on glasses and a white coating on plastics. We have tried using varying amounts w/o a difference. Bummer, I had high hopes for this product.

My husband was skeptical about using a non-liquid detergent, but it does a great job washing the dishes. It sometimes left a white residue, but we added a small amount of vinegar in the “rinse” container of our dishwasher, and that did the trick. I’ve been trying out various green and non-green dishwasher detergents. Trader Joe’s powder left a white deposit; gels were a bit better but still left deposits. I even tried Cascade, which worked but left residual odor. The Method smarty-tabs ($5 at Target) are not only easier but worked better than even the Cascade. No deposits on dishes or glasses; pots have slight deposit but nothing major. No leftover odors. I live in hard-water AZ and don’t use rinse aid.

I have used these exclusively for a year now and they are fantastic. No odor and the dishes are super clean with no film. Cutlery and glass ware are stain and spot free. I wanted to try these because I can’t stand the smell of the Electrosal tabs I use and because these are supposed to be more environmentally friendly. These leave a thick white film on EVERYTHING. Not even another rinse helps. I really do not like these at all. I would have given them 1 star but it’s a good idea and maybe it’s my hard water, but nothing else leaves a white film on my dishes. Save the money and buy something that will actually wash your dishes and leave them clean!

I hate the “Green” movement. I hate the movement because of its self-righteous sanctimonious, guilt-trip laying ideology with not a little smattering of hubris (”we’re saving THE EARTH!”).

Here’s the thing: I don’t disagree with the goals of the movement–after all, I want to leave a better, cleaner world for my son. Who doesn’t? Even so, in my experience, products claiming to be “green” don’t perform up to the standards of their “un-Green” competitors.

Vaska’s `herbatergent’ was beginning to look a lot like the usual tripe (’herbatergent,’ really?) but you can consider this skeptic converted. Vaska–which means “to wash” in “Old Norse” according to their website–has succeeded in performing a small modern miracle: their product works as advertised! While lavendar is not one of my favorites scents, the detergent–excuse me, herbatergent–got rid of the gunk and spit-up on bibs and other assorted clothing associated with feeding a refluxing baby. Yes, it’s good enough to remove dried-on dirt yet gentle enough not to cause problems for baby’s skin.

In the end, that’s all it boils down to: making a product that works. If in the process, you happen to make a product from natural sources that (a) don’t harm the environment; (b) are safe for people’s use all while not preaching, I will buy everything you make.

Kudos to Vaska.

As far as I could tell, this “green” detergent worked just as well as the regular stuff. Granted, the clothes I washed weren’t especially dirty, so I don’t know how well this product would work against heavy soil, odors or stains. But for a regular wash it performed fine. It has a pleasant, subtle scent; not too strong of cloying. Overall, it performed as promised.

My wife used Tide exclusively for her front-loading washing machine. However, the Amazon Vine offer to try Vaska Lavender Laundry detergent was too good to pass up. We have one son who suffers from allergies; he is sensitive to heavily-perfumed detergents and cleaners.

We’re more than halfway through the 48-ounce bottle and can see, smell — AND FEEL — a big difference in our laundry. The laundry is much softer. We’ve tried whites, colors and heavy loads of bath towels. Each comes out clean with a mild lavender scent and, most importantly, softer than Tide loads. (NOTE: We have a high efficiency washing machine, so we only use a cap full for each load.)

How much do we like Vaska? We placed an Amazon order for six more bottles. That may seem like a lot to spend on laundry detergent but the order works out to less than 29 cents per load, which is competitive with other laundry detergent brands. We didn’t pick the scent-free version as the lavender was pleasing without being cloying (our son reports no problems with the new detergent).

In summary, we give Vaska a five-star rating and recommend it to families with children sensitive to the chemicals in other laundry detergents.

Vaska does a good job of cleaning not so dirty clothes and can be a great herbal alternative. However, I still prefer Tide for the soiled clothes after vigorous outdoor activity. Vaska washes clothes well but does not make them totally stain free like Tide. I do prefer it over some other detergent brands though and like the fact that it would not leave chemical residue on inner garments.

this laundry detergent never ceases to surprise me. so far it has gotten out grease, blood and grass stains without soaking or pre-treating them. i have some clothes i have had for a long time that were starting to get a little discolored and it brought the color back into the clothes. the whites are whiter without bleach or bleach alternative and the colors stay really bright too. every time i throw something in the wash with a stain on it, i see it as a test for this detergent. if it fails i wouldn’t spend the money again, but it always comes through! love this stuff!

Method HE free and clear is not completely fragrance free, you can still detect an odor if you put it right under your nose, but you don’t notice it in regular use and your clothes do not come out smelling perfumed. I used to use Tide unscented but it still had too much of a fragrance for me. Method is much better.

Method is very very concentrated so a 64oz bottle will wash 64 regular loads. The detergent does an excellent job on all types of clothing and in all water temperatures and rinses out completely (provided you don’t put too much detergent in your wash).

If you are sensitive to perfumes you should be alright with this detergent.

I have used Bio-Kleen for years and have always been very satisfied with the results. Note that this is the oxygenated version that is supposed to brighten better than their regular formula. I think this one is slightly better but they are both so good it is difficult to say for sure.

I would suggest that first time buyers not buy in this quantity– note that each box is 54 loads for a top-loader, they say to use half as much for a front loader like mine. I use 1/2 for lightly soiled loads and more like 2/3rds for heavily soiled loads. This buy would last me several years.

For the user who had trouble with the cleaning power of this in March, I wonder if it has to do with water temperature. I don’t think many powdered detergents dissolve well in frigid water. My washer has a cold setting that mixes in a small amount of warm water to bring frigid winter water up to simply cold(you could pre-dissolve in a cup of warm water to test).

I have been buying this for years, 1 box at a time. Currently, it sells for about $15.49 at Kroger’s. I was absolutely thrilled to see it on the subscribe and save program at such a great price. It is the only soap I can use. Somewhere along the line I became highly sensitive to chemicals and can’t use anything else. We visited family and after a couple days of using their bath towels, I was red and scratching. I now take my own towels when we visit family. We are on well water with a softener and it works well in our water. For those of you who commented that your whites do not come clean, add two tablespoons of the Bio-Kleen non-chlorine bleach, 1 oz of the liquid Bac-Out and use the heavy cycle and hot water. I guarantee your whites will be beautifully white. Even our dingy lawn-mowing socks (we push mow about an acre) come out white with this method. I use the liquid cold water Bio-Kleen detergent for good clothes, because I think the Premium Powder is so strong. We get plenty dirty working outside and it cleans everything and anything like a champ! The only problem I have had with it, is that it doesn’t dissolve very well. I keep a plastic measuring cup at the machine and put the soap into it, run some water into the cup while the machine fills and then swish it and pour it into the tub and let it fill. I never find hard crusty pieces doing it this way. We recycle the box and I wish the company would use plastic scoops and bags that can be recycled. DO NOT USE A SCOOP OF THIS STUFF!! 1 tablespoon for front-loads, 2 tablespoons for top-loads and I have an extra large capacity top load. I love that it is not tested on animals, nor contains animal products. The artificial odors of Tide, etc. now make me ill. I can’t even walk down those aisles at the stores. Our clothes only come out clean and fresh and they don’t smell weirdly fake. We have six dogs in the house and it cleans up any mess they can make. I will leave that statement to your imagination. If you love animals, love your planet, and love clean clothes, give it a try!

I love eco-friendly products. And I have nothing against biokleen (their automatic dishwashing detergent works better than anything in my Bosch). But their powdered laundry detergent is a huge disappointment. I use this in my high-efficiency front-loader, and clothes come out dingy and stained. I’ve tried different amounts of this detergent and different cycles but can’t seem to get it to work for my household. The nearly full box is literally sitting on the shelf because I have to pretreat all of the stains with Tide before I can use it! This product just doesn’t work as well as it should. I’d be real careful about buying this in bulk if you’re a first-time user.
